100th anniversary webinar of the GAO

On 19 October 2021, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) celebrated its 100th anniversary in the form of a virtual event entitled "GAO’s INTOSAI and International Capacity Development Webinar".

In her keynote speech, INTOSAI Secretary General Margit Kraker addressed the milestones of INTOSAI’s history, today’s priorities and challenges and the role of the GAO within INTOSAI.

Ms Kraker thanked the GAO for the good cooperation and for its active contribution in paving the way for INTOSAI’s future – in particular in its capacity as the Chair of the Task Force on Strategic Planning, which is currently preparing the next Strategic Plan of INTOSAI 2023–2028, and as the Vice-Chair of the Policy, Finance and Administration Committee and the INTOSAI-Donor Cooperation.

In the light of the COVID-19 crisis, the next Strategic Plan of INTOSAI shall, in addition to issues that are still topical – e.g. the independence of SAIs and their contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals – address key requirements, such as agility and resilience.
