INTOSAI Side Event at the UN HLPF in New York

"Moving towards full SDG implementation by partnering for greater impact of SDG audits."

This was the topic explored by the INTOSAI Side Event at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (UN HLPF), which was co-hosted by the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), the INTOSAI General Secretariat, and the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing with the SAIs of Indonesia and Brazil and the United Nations on 13 July 2023. The side event was organized by the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York as a hybrid event.

Seven and a half years after the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs had entered into force, the side event was dedicated to the results and impact of SAI SDG audits. High-level representatives of the SAIs of Indonesia, Costa Rica, USA, Brazil, Uganda as well as the IDI and the INTOSAI General Secretariat presented results of their SDG audits to date and INTOSAI initiatives to support SAIs. The focus was on the impact that SAI SDG audits have already been able to achieve and how this impact can be further enhanced. INTOSAI’s external partners, such as the United Nations and the International Budget Partnership, presented their perspectives on successes already achieved and lessons learned.
